2022 FALL QUARTER[10/14/22] Virtual Bonding: Game Day! The officers and the members introduced each other & bonded with stress-relieving games including Gartic Phone and Skribbl.io! [10/28/22] BHES Counselor Guest Speaker: Tom Nguyen The BHES counselor explained the UC/CSU transferring process, discussed the general classes you may need to take as a pre-health major, and answered transfer-related questions! [11/11/22] Pre-Health Transfer Panel The six De Anza alumni answered a series of transfer-related questions in the main session, gave advice, and answered audience questions in breakout rooms! [11/18/22] Genetic Counselor Guest Speaker: Laurie Nemzer COMING SOON! [12/2/22] In-Person Bonding The MOA officers held their first in person event of the 2022 year through hosting a bonding event. Members came together to introduce themselves, play games, and make some cool DIY Boba! |
2023 WINTER QUARTER[02/03/23] Virtual Bonding: Game Night! The Officers and the members introduced each other & bonded with some fun games over zoom including Skribbl.io and more! [02/10/23] Guest Speaker Event: Mary Fakunle We invited Dr.Funkle, a 5th year UCSF resident, to speak about her journey through becoming a healthcare profession, give advice and tips to our members, and present her personal slides. She also answered questions! [03/03/23] Guest Speaker Event: Tiana Woolridge We invited Dr.Woolrdige, a 3rd year resident Pediatrician at UCSF. Dr.Woolrdige spoke about her journy as a Pre-Med in college to UCSF, presented on sports medicine, and answered questions! [03/17/23] Guest Speaker Event: Seth Suzuki We held our first in person event of the year by inviting a De Anza Alumni, 1st year PA student Seth Suzuki. Seth gave a presentation highlighing his years at De Anza and UCLA, and answered questions! |

2021 FALL QUARTER[10/15/21] BHES Counselor Guest Speaker: Tom Nguyen The BHES counselor Tom Nguyen went over the general classes you may needed as pre-health/pre-med majors. [10/29/21] Second Year Kaiser Medical Student Guest Speaker: Leandra Doan Graduated from UC Riverside in 2020, Leandra Doan is a second-year medical student at the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine, a new school offering free tuition for the first five classes. She joined us to talk about her undergrad and medical school experience. [11/12/21] Fourth Year SJSU Nursing Student Guest Speaker: Tina Tran Tina Tran, a nursing student who graduated San Jose State University in December 2021, joined us to give advice and talk about her undergrad and nursing school experience. She is a first-generation college student who is passionate about uplifting marginalized communities. A recent project she took part in is creating COVID-19 activity books for the East Side San Jose Community. She also spent her summer in Rochester, Minnesota at Mayo Clinic as an extern on the General Pediatrics unit! [11/19/21] Virtual Bonding: Study/Work Day! The officers and the members had a productive college applications work session on the MOA Discord. [12/04/21] In-Person Bonding: Letters to Healthcare Workers The officers and our members de-stressed by making cards to patients! |
2022 WINTER QUARTER[01/28/22] Virtual Bonding: Game Day! The officers and the members bonded with stress-relieving games including Gartic Phone, CodeNames, and Skribbl.io! [02/11/22] FF/EMT/PA-C Guest Speaker: Carlos Jaramillo Graduated from UC Davis and Stanford University, Carlos Jaramillo is an accomplished medical professional, a firefighter (FF), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), & a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). He discussed his journey to becoming a PA, a day in the life as a PA, as well as some real life (graphic) case presentations! [02/18/22] MOAxHaMS Allied Health Panel A collaboration event with Health and Medical Sciences (HaMS) club that featured the instructors from Foothill's respiratory therapy & EMS programs as well as De Anza's allied health programs (including medical assisting)! [03/04/22] MOAxGuided Pathways Winter Mixer A collaboration meet-and-greet event with Health and Life Sciences Village that featured CTE counselors, KNES/PE instructors, nursing director, and MOA Officers! [03/11/22] Medical Student Guest Speaker: Jacqueline Do Graduated from UCLA as a neuroscience major, Jacqueline Do is a De Anza alum who is currently attending UMass Chan Medical School. As one of the co-founders of MOA, she discussed MOA's roots, her time at De Anza and UCLA, and the life of a medical student! |
2022 SPRING QUARTER[04/29/22] PA Guest Speaker: Alec Larson Alec Larson is recent graduate from the University of the Pacific's PA program. He discussed his journey to becoming a PA student, a day in the life in PA school, as well as some PA application insight! [05/27/22] Nurse Practitioner Guest Speaker: Duy Huynh! Graduated from the University of Washington as a Biochemistry major, Duy Huynh is currently a nurse practitioner student at Seattle University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Program! Formerly on a pre-med track, Duy has managed to navigate his goals and figure out his passion and career pathway. He answered some questions and and talked about his academic journey! [06/3/22] Optometrist Guest Speaker: Irene Zaman (CANCELLED EVENT) Irene is a De Anza alum who is currently a 4th year student at the Illinois College of Optometry, where she’s aiming to become an optometrist in the future. She was also the former MOA Vice President and President a few years ago. This event was unfortunately canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. [06/4/22] Flea Market + Panda Express Bonding The officers were present at the second DASG Flea Market since 2020 to promote MOA's Panda Express Fundraiser and sell plushies and other inventory. [06/10/22] Virtual Elections! Officer candidates presented their speeches and mock challenges in interest of becoming apart of MOA's 2022-2023 officer team! |

[10/09/20] BHES Counselor Guest Speaker: Tom Nguyen The BHES counselor Tom Nguyen went over the general classes you may needed as prehealth/premed majors. [10/23/20] Former MOA officer/UC Berkeley alumna Guest Speaker: Julie-Ann Nguyen Featured former MOA officer and UC Berkeley alumna, Julie-Ann Nguyen. She shared her own insights and advice from her premed thus far as a transfer student/ recent graduate in her gap year(s) working at the Stanford Clinical Anatomy Lab before applying to medical school. She explored the question of "why medicine?" as well as discussed both the spoken and unspoken curriculum of the process. [11/06/20] MOAxHAMS Allied Health Panel Featured the instructors from Foothill's dental hygiene & EMS programs as well as a former student from DeAnza's medical assistant program (who is now working as a medical assistant at Kaiser & as a part-time Certified Nursing Assistant). [11/20/20] UCSF Medical School Admission Workshop The program director from UCSF School of Medicine gave a presentation on their admissions requirements. She discussed her journey from community college to medical school as well as advice on how to prep for medical school. [03/19/21] MOA Bonding Night Jeopardy game day! |
